Getting to Portugal

Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport is Portugal's main international gateway. The airport is located approximately 6 km from Lisbon city centre and offers regular connections with major European capitals and other international destinations.

Travelling to Estoril

Estoril is located on the Portuguese Atlantic coast, approximately 27 km from Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport and around 24 km from Lisbon city centre. The area is easily accessible by road and public transport.

Passenger transport by taxi or ride-hailing services should only be arranged through official taxi ranks or licensed mobile applications. Participants should not accept unsolicited transport offers from individuals approaching passengers inside or outside the terminal.

Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Bolt are widely used in Portugal. Participants arriving at Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport are encouraged to use the app’s official pick-up location indicated at the airport. Please follow the instructions in the app and airport signage to reach the designated meeting point.

Where to meet your Uber/Bolt driver at Lisbon Airport

At Lisbon Airport, the designated pick-up area for app-based transport services such as Uber and Bolt is generally located at the P2 Parking Garage, Level 2, arrivals level. Participants should always confirm the exact pick-up point in the app and follow current airport signage.

After exiting arrivals and baggage claim, turn left and follow the clear signs toward the rideshare pickup area. On the reverse route, at departures, passengers travelling using these online reservation platforms are dropped off at Drop Off 1 or Drop Off 2, next to the departures area.

Steps to find the area

Walk out of the main arrivals hall.
Turn left and walk past Starbucks.
Head down into the P2 parking garage (Level 2).
Look for the designated platform waiting zones and check your app for your driver’s exact spot.

Taxis are available at the official taxi ranks outside the arrivals area. Participants should use only the official taxi queue and avoid accepting unsolicited transport offers inside or outside the terminal.

To avoid scams or overcharging, please make sure the taxi is taken from the official airport taxi rank. If in doubt, ask airport staff for assistance before starting the journey.

Indicative route

Take the Metro from Aeroporto station.
Travel towards central Lisbon on the red line to Alameda station. Then change to the green line towards Cais do Sodré station.
At Cais do Sodré, follow the signs to the train station and take the CP train on the Cascais Line towards Cascais.
Exit at Estoril station.
From Estoril station, the Estoril Congress Centre (CCE) is within walking distance. Taxis and ride-hailing services may also be available.

Climate

May is usually one of the most pleasant months to visit Portugal, with mild temperatures, longer daylight hours and generally stable weather.

Currency and exchange

The official currency in Portugal is the euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but participants may wish to carry a small amount of cash for minor expenses. ATMs are widely available in Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais.

Electricity

Portugal operates on 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. Standard wall sockets are European two-pin sockets. Participants may need a plug adapter depending on the type of plug used in their country.

Medical travel insurance and health insurance

The insurance should be valid for the entire territory of the Member States and cover the entire duration of the stay or transit of the visa applicant. It should be valid for the duration of the stay and not for the duration of the visa.

The insurance should cover medical expenses, including medical repatriation, medical emergency and hospital emergency, with minimum coverage of €30,000.
